This was amazing ! Unlike anything I’ve ever read before. The way it seamlessly flows between the perspectives of the ensemble of characters, sentence to sentence - it’s so good !!! And it’s so shocking and dark and sad too, and that’s jarring with the funny tone but in a good way. And the whole time I was asking “what about Patrick??? What ABOUT PATRICK???????” and the answer always goes back to the genius title: “never mind”. And it’s so dark !! And so good !!! Patrick was the centre of the whole thing and completely invisible at the same time. It was so clever how did he do it ??

3.5

Apparently I really enjoy cynical narrators. This reminds me a lot of Waugh's early work (i.e. Decline and Fall) which is a compliment, but the author also has major reactionary vibes so I am a little wary of whatever racism/homophobia/etc. I may encounter in continuing the series. We shall see. This is around a 3.5 because I feel it lost its pacing/direction towards the end but was still enjoyable, and handled its short length very well.
