I liked this book and loved the ending. I can see how the writing style wouldn’t be everybody’s cup of tea, but i’m a fan of hojicha ;)
When the characters in the story notice the protagonist, it almost feels like a fourth wall break, and it fills me with joy every time. The way the story slowly reveals the protagonist’s own story is beautiful, and the book is a real page-turner. I read this book in a day and loved it.

This is what I imagine stans to be like if instead of being fans of celebrities they were just really into regular people.

A unique book and narration but not very exciting. Overall mundane with the most stirring element of the story being how delulu the narrator is.

a quick, gripping, weird and chillingly entertaining read.
i loved the simplicity and thrill of the story and narration. also liked that it was written from the stalker's perspective, so whenever someone addressed the narrator, it felt weird in a way, like breaking the fourth wall.
overall, strong and powerful and easy to get through due to masterful yet minimalistic language.
a story so simple, however, that the re-readability factor is rather low.

The Woman in the Purple Skirt intrigues The Woman in the Yellow Cardigan so much so she follows her every move, and silently helps her get a job at the hotel where she works. The woman in the purple skirt attracts the attention of her boss as she does well in her job training, and eventually starts a chain of events that gets everyone talking.

This was a cute little quick translated read. I felt like this novel didn't quite hit the spot in the end, but could have been part of an ongoing series of stories.

As quickly as I started to like the Woman in the Purple Skirt, her downfall was just as quick and, dare I say, enjoyable to watch.

The unresolved issues I have with this story is mostly all with the Woman in the Yellow Cardigan. I wanted to know her story, just everything about her. And I definitely wanted to know what happened to Hino, where did she go with what was in the locker.

I did not LOVE this book.  In fact, I found it kind of boring, but I could not stop reading.  I was hooked.  I HAD to know how it ended.  Who the heck was the woman in the yellow cardigan?!  And why the heck was she following the woman in the purple skirt.  I felt like there is something (culturally) that I am missing because I did not feel like this was a thriller even though it's narrated by the stalker.  I never felt that the woman in the purple skirt was in danger.  And I do not understand the ending, at all. How did this book win a literary award?  Excellent audio narrator.
