The second book in The Princess Diaries series, that I listened to on audiobook from the library, solely because of Anne Hathaway’s narration. This book picked up where the last one ended and I have to say I enjoyed it just as much (which is rare because I usually hate series because of their second book) Princess Mia is still like herself but with a few minor developments in character and this book actually made feel all “squeely” and girly.

i'm beginning to think lilly is a horrible friend
we love her brother tho
i dont like who the secret admirer turned out to be but oh welll

look at me, speedruning these books. an absolute madlad and legend

I just really enjoy these books in general. They're really fun books when you're in a reading rut that go by quickly and make you laugh. Quite honestly, this book took me an hour to read! This wasn't my favorite book (I liked the first one better) but if I have to read it to reread the series, then I shall!

I really loved Mia's voice and how the author made her seem so real and alive. Mia is just so dramatic and it's so humorous to read! She's sort of letting the whole princess thing settle in while she adjusts but of course her life takes so many different turns. She has to learn to cope with the press and how to rule a whole country while of course dealing with her family and friends who, at times, can be a little strange and slightly exasperating.

Speaking of Mia's friends, I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about Lilly being Mia's friend. From my perspective, she seems like such a terrible friend and isn't understanding of Mia's situation at all. She came across to me as very whiny and pushy.

As always, I do like the diary style of the book - it really fits Mia's voice and the tone of the whole book.

The Final Verdict:
Another great installment of The Princess Diaries although the first book is still my favorite. Mia's voice is very well done and I loved watching her navigate through teenage life as well as finding out she's a princess and expected to rule a country in a few short months. The only aspect I really disliked was seeing Lilly as Mia's friend. She seemed so pushy and was not good friend material at all.

Quotes:
“Lilly: Mia, when I recognize a human soul crying out for self-actualization, I am powerless to stop myself. I must do what I can to see that that person’s dream is realized.
[Gee, I haven’t noticed Lilly doing all that much to help me realize my dream of
French-kissing her brother. But on the other hand, I have not exactly made that dream known to her.]”

“And you know what? Maybe Michael didn’t write those notes. And maybe he doesn’t
think I’m the Josiest girl in school. But he thought I looked nice in my pink dress. And that’s all that matters to me.”

Part two of my epic re-read of this series.

Again, an adorably cute and lighthearted book! I love Mia and how witty she is. I really feel for her when she gets embarrassed about things and I love the budding relationship with Micheal! Puts a big smile on my face. But god, Lily…..still, imo, a terrible friend. All she does is down talk Mia, guilt trip her, and not care about anything she’s going through. Like I get they’re young and all but gosh, maybe have some empathy Lily!!

The continuation of the princess diaries in this sequel is awesome with princess mias mom and frank wedding vs grandmere wedding plot is awesome, the side plot with hank and lily adds more depth to lillys character in my opinion. The plot of a secret admirer for mia is decently well done but i think their could have been a bit more to it.

A lot happened but also nothing happened? I don’t know, it was weird

We follow Mia as she continues to struggle at being a princess. From the events of the first book a lot has changed including her mother finding out that she's pregnant with Mia's algebra teacher's child. Mia still continues to refer to him as her algebra teacher even though it's clear that their relationship has moved past that.

Mia has also forgotten all about Josh, which is great for her because of how he acted and now she's zeroed in on Michael, her brother's best friend, as her always crush. It reminds me of how quickly one jumps from crush to crush when you're young.

The book series is different from the movies, she hasn't even been to Genovia yet in the books which I think might change in the next few books. I need to go back and re-watch the movies to see if her mother was pregnant in the first or the second. It's been way too long.

Still the book series is progressing and getting better as it goes on. I do like all the Star Wars references and the tiny plot line that surrounded Mia being able to go to The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Halloween, which is one of my fav movie musicals. It really transported me back to when I was that age and honestly, I would have been around Mia's age when the books were written and published. I really could kick myself for not knowing about this series back then.

Continuing on for sure. It's great to have something light to read with the current events.
