I returned to reread this series to help me get out of a reading slump as they're quick and easy reads that I can power through. Despite these being set in high school with a low level of emotional maturity, I still am able to find them entertaining. There's a lot left to be desired while rereading as an adult but the differences between the book series and the movies are amusing enough to hold my interest. They're nowhere near my favorite books or the best literature but still are decent for a quick and easy reread of something from my childhood.

Another excellent addition to the series! A very quick read, and it was cute! Kept my attention, and now I'm ready for the next one!
I liked this book.
I didn't love it, I didn't hate it I just liked it.
The problem with falling in love with a book series when you're young is that sometimes they just don't live up to the memory.
I re-read the first one recently and wasn't at all disappointed by it, it was exactly what I love about the series. I was struck by how much it reminded me of being at school and never fitting in but loving my little group of friends more than anything on the planet. The first one brings back so much of the nostalgia of my younger years that it automatically gets an extra star.
The second book however was just a nice read. I enjoyed it, no matter how much the thought that at 14/15 my parents would never have let me go to a midnight showing of Rocky Horror even with a bodyguard!
I think the problem with the second book is that it tries too hard to be cool and hipster. It also doesn't age too well, there is a scene with multiple celebrities and because of the ever changing celebrity culture we are unfortunately stuck with it doesn't hold up too well any more.
Overall I enjoyed the humour Mia always shows but didn't love it as much as the first time around.

Oh my gosh, no one told me how addictive these books are!! It's like injecting princess Mia straight into my bloodstream. That was a weird way to put that. Anyway, this was a really quick, fun read. And such a perfect high school girl characterization. Bam. Onto book three.
