I loved Samantha Downing’s debut novel His Lovely Wife, so when I saw this short Audible original novella and had a couple hours to kill I thought why not. So glad I did. This was a fantastic thriller about a dog walker who finds one of her clients dead. A lot is packed into this. If you have an Audible membership I’d highly suggest you check it out.

This delightful novella packs a big punch. I’m not normally a fan of novellas or short stories because I want time for a story to build suspense and string me along, but I’m a huge fan of Samantha Downing and heard this one was excellent. I’m glad I picked it up, because it was a tasty morsel of a mystery!

A man is found dead in his bathroom by his dog walker… but everyone and everything is not as they seem. This novella has a little police procedural, mystery, whodunnit, and psychological thriller all packed within a super-fast Kindle read.

It’s definitely worth your time to check this out- it’s the perfect story to read in its entirety before bed or on a short flight!

A true way to describe “how to get away with murder” because that’s exactly the way you do it. At first I wasn’t sure who murdered Todd but then after getting more details and then his wife, it all made sense. The plot twist in the book is amazing and one you’d not think to realize unless you’ve read the chapter titles. Amazing story and amazing plot

2.75. I might have rated this higher in a longer format, but as a novella, I needed more character development in the culprit to find the motivation convincing.

I knew that the intent of the murder was her love for the dog, but I was still surprised how it unraveled. Her (the killer's) story at the first part was spotless.

Having read Downing before, I was prepared for anything, which means the twist in this thriller novella didn't totally catch me off guard. Nevertheless, it was a dark yet oddly satisfying story about a dog walker and a murdered man where nothing is quite what it seems.

This was an enjoyable thriller novella. The twist at the end while not groundbreaking was still good. The characters were well done and the story was good. I'm excited to read more of Samantha Downing's works.

This was a good, quick little story. Good narrator for the audiobook.
