This book was a very sweet retelling of how we can find what we are looking for within ourselves, whether it be support, friendship, love, etc. We can learn to do those things on our own, if we practice and allow ourselves to do so

The story of a little triangle who felt he was a missing piece started off slow but quickly built. The triangle encountered many different shapes that it didn't quite fit with and eventually grew sad. The triangle would try to bring attention to itself which didn't work, which showed that trying to be something other than yourself isn't the way to find people to associate with. The triangle eventually found another shape he fit with and all seemed happy until the triangle grew (changed) and didn't quite fit anymore. He grew sad again and gave up until meeting a circle that gave great advice to the triangle that it didn't need any one else to be happy, it didn't need anyone to make it complete, or to move. The triangle eventually tried, and moved until it was rolling by itself and eventually became a circle too. It didn't need any other shape to be perfect and then met up with the other circle and the story ended happily.

The illustrations were black and white and while not overly impressive, fit the story perfectly. They went with the text and added the right amount of emotion to go along with it. There was a couple two page spreads that really added additional depth as well as occasional dialogue.

Hands down. One of my favorite children books. This was my book in elementary school...along with The Giving Tree. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Dr Suess's ABCs, and Chrysanthemum.
