Highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone who can hear me. Talabi created an amazing world and demonstrated an innovative way of looking at the pantheon of Gods. The characters were beautifully flawed and the action scenes were amazing written.

This is a heist novel which means they're getting the team together and they are going on a heist. It's richly written, the characters are well describe, and the world is lived in.
Definitely going to it knowing that noema is a succubus who uses sex as power and she doesn't care about consent. There is a rape on page that I found hard to read.
If you're interested highly suggest you pick it up you might like it.

This just took forever to get going- I enjoyed the last 70%. I read this via audiobook and it was a bit hard to follow the narrative because it jumps around in time. If I was reading the book with my eyes, I could flip back to remind myself of dates mentioned at the beginning of each chapter, but that isn't very easy in audio.
There was also a lot of distracting noises in the audiobook like paper shuffling and heavy breathing that really diminished my enjoyment.

This novel follows two Yoruba demons undertake a heist reclaiming a stolen cultural artefact from the British Museum to win back their freedom. While I found the concept fun and interesting, I didn't think the writing was very good, there were too many flashbacks that didn't add much and threw off the pacing, I didn't care about the protagonists or find their sudden change from friends with benefits to true love convincing, the themes of the stolen cultural artefact stored in the British Museum was a bit heavy-handed, and the heist didn't turn out to be very exciting. There were also several graphic sex scenes where one of the protagonists used her magic powers to coerce the other in wanting to have sex with her.
