Not one of King's best-rated books but I thought it was one of his more interesting ones. Dreamcatcher played off a different kind of suspense than typical King, and for me at least, it worked really well. I liked the friends and their relationships, their struggle to deal with this alien invasion they found themselves caught in, it was a great and really gripping story. I think I'd rate it up with the Langoliers which, is another favorite of mine.

This. Book. Is. Terrible.
It's so bad that after starting it, I realized that I hated it so much the first time around I stopped reading Stephen King on a regular basis. Up until then, I had been reading them as they came out. Since I'm now reading or re-reading all of King in publication order, it's time to read this again after two decades, and...ugh. It's just so, so bad.
This is the book King wrote while recovering from being hit by a car. He's a pro, and can write anything, so the issue isn't necessarily the writing (although it does have some of King's worst dialog). The problem here is that it's filled with author's choice after choice and they're all bad. The plot, the characters, the situations...they're all terrible. I hated virtually every page of this book.
My Goodreads ratings all start at three stars. I drop one if a book is bad. To get one star, a book has to offend me in some way. I'm making an exception in this case, because it's only offensive in that it's painful to read.
Ugh. It's so bad. I will never read it again.

This was a weird one and took me a while to get into but this is what I wanted Tommyknockers to be.
These were the masters of the universe that the movies had taught us to fear? Merciless, star-faring conquerors who didn't know how to take a shit or figure a tip?
A gripping tale that brought together my love of horror and my fondness for flatulence
One of my favorite Steven King books. I've lost count of how many times I've read it over the years.
All I can say in its favor is that it was better than Tommyknockers.
Absolutely detested most of this book but I can’t give a 1 star to my boy Steve
