I liked this book, I listened to the German audio book. I understand why this is a bestselling book.
The writing is descriptive, repetitive and easy, yet uses metaphors and interesting images, and lots of cultural references.
I really had to get used to the direct speech in the dialog.

I don’t think the impact of alcoholism on a family and small children is realistic. Especially the fact that Tilda is able to perform so well at school and university, while having to deal with the situation at home.

In the end this is why it’s a sort of fairytale that lots of people adore.
