This was one of those stories where the changes in the movie were mostly improvements. That being said, the book wasn't bad though the editing does need a second look.
fast-paced

So the first 100 pages of the book were good and really interesting it since I read through it really fast but Oh my God it was as if the second half was written by a different person.

I hate HATE one the boyfriend/girlfriend of the main character if awful just to justify cheating and in this case they didn’t even made Nick awful the main character Josie was just a selfish cheater. She was so illogical and moody that by the second half of the book I was hoping somebody would say something and I wasn’t even mad with Liam for leaving her with norm explanation and changing his number because hey! Josie is not mad about it either so who cares right? The fact that she was making out with a man who was not her fiancé and she stopped ONLY because she remembered that he left her and didn’t even think about Nick... yeah not a fan of Josie.

Also the fact that she is a shitty friend. In the after funeral party thing or whatever that they have she is crying in the shoulder of the WIDOW! And she never ask how she is doing or what can she do to help she only mentions “oh I should be helping you not the other way around”. The one that that helped Katelyn and asked how she was and spend time with her kids to let her have time for herself is Liam and then Josie has the guts to tell Katelyn “Stop taking his side” WTF!?!? And don’t even get me started when she has a jealous fit and implies that Katelyn who just buried her husband and is worried over bills and who is going to watch fútbol with her kids is actually already starting a new thing with Liam... she is not even worried about Liam hitting Katelyn of course not because that would be selfless and something that a good friend would be worried about!

Liam could had been worse but is still pretty shitty. He is stupid and has stupid reasons for the things that he does. He mentions that he wouldn’t want any kid that wasn’t from Josie and doesn’t care when his booty call has a miscarriage. Asshole! Also he complete bailed on his best friend for... reasons. The fact the he doesn’t want his kid to think he doesn’t want him but then he doesn’t call him?

He hates Nick because Nick is touching his girl, yeah the same girl he left and didn’t call for 10 years and he doesn’t even appears to be sorry about it and doesn’t do anything to redeem himself with Josie but in the end she kinda deserve it for me.

Yeah I stopped reading this just before finishing the book because I don’t have any interest on the happy ending of two terrible people.

This was okay.

You read one book about high school sweethearts who had a falling out and then the girl finds out she's pregnant, tries to contact her ex-love-of-her-life, can't get in contact with him, raises the child on her own, years later ex-love-of-her-life comes back home and learns he has a kid... you've read them all.

I liked this!

This book was good.It was light and sweet and a little bit predictable.I will read the second book because the first one left me with a big smile on my face.

I wanted to read this book after watching the film. I was excited and understanding that it was going to be a very different story. However I have to say (and I don’t say it often) that I enjoy the movie more. I found the writing and pace of the story very clunky and Liam’s character rather “possessive” instead of romantically endearing. I enjoyed the end and did find the sweet things I enjoyed about the movie, but mostly it is just another “sexy romance novel” not the “beloved book” that I was expecting after watching the movie.

Someone yells that she loves me; I say "thanks". Never will I nor have I told fans that I love them, even with something as innocent as this. I've only loved one person in my life and those words are saved for my girl... --Liam Page Westbury

This book has been on my tbr foreverrrr, and I finally decided to pick it up because of the upcoming movie. I kept seeing the trailers, and I've [surprisingly] been into contemporaries lately. The movie trailers looked very Nicholas Sparks-y, so I decided to give it a shot. And while there wasn't anything particularly spectacular or unique about it, I did enjoy this book immensely!

Forever My Girl is your pretty typical rocker-second-chance-romance novel. Liam and Josie were high school sweethearts and thought they had their whole lives planned out together. They were young but very much in love in spite of all that seemed to be working against them. However during their freshman year of college, Liam meets his grandmother who encourages him to follow his dreams and helps him move to LA. He leaves Josie with little more than a 'goodbye' and goes on to become a heartthrob musician. Even though his love for Josie never waned, Josie is forced to let go of her memories in order to move on with her life after Liam, so when he shows up again after 10 years she is shocked, heartbroken, and angry at the disruption he causes. But this time Liam isn't willing to walk away so easily...

Like I said, pretty run-of-the-mill romance, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. It was an easy and entertaining read, and there wasn't TOO much OTT drama. I really liked the main characters: Liam was actually a really sweet father and tried to put his son first, Josie was tough when she needed to be but also put Noah first, I loved Katelyn and her girls (especially Peyton!), and Mason seemed like he was an amazing father. Didn't care too much for Sam or Nick though! Ha.

I also compiled a list of differences I noticed between the movie trailer and the book because I'm detail-oriented like that. Enjoy:
- Liam is a country star and not a rock hunk
- he's been gone for 8 yrs (it's 10 yrs in the novel)
- he doesn't have any tattoos (which I guess ties in with not being a rock hunk)
- Josie and Liam have a daughter named Billy, not a son named Noah (which is kinda f*cked up because I liked Noah)
- Josie's BLONDE (she's brunette in the novel, but again I guess blondes are more 'country')
- it appears that it's Josie's grandmother's funeral that brings them together again and not their childhood bestie Mason
- Liam drives a convertible and not a motorcycle (which is a bummer cuz motorcycles are way cooler)
- Liam appears to talk to and actually HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS DAD, which is huge cuz in the book Liam pretty much hates his father
- he also appears to abandon Josie on THEIR WEDDING DAY vs. a random college night in the novel (which is also f*cked up of Liam)
- Josie seems more approachable in the movie (probably to move the story along faster)

Unfortunately, Nick still appears to play a fairly prominent role. Nevertheless, I still wanna see the movie to see how it plays out. Definitely recommend the novel, and I want to continue the series to see who other characters possibly hook-up with...

***Update 1/21/18***
I watched the movie today, and I have to say that I very much enjoyed it!! I feel like while some things were obviously changed, they still captured the essence and feel of the novel and its characters. I really felt Liam's pain and regret and Josie's reluctance but overall love for each other. And Jessica Rothe (actress who plays Josie) is freaking gorgeous, and Alex Roe (Liam) isn't bad himself! Still wholeheartedly recommend reading the book and watching the movie :)

I was immediately sold on the cover and the blurb. It appealed to me immediately; reaquainted loves, music, children, heartache, sexiness. It is truly a fantastic little mixture of my fave things. It's as though the author spent a night in my head and plucked my fave aspects of novels and combined them into one fabulous story.

The story begins with tears a delivers further more throughout, but not so much that I wanted to top myself. But enough that kept me turning the pages long into the night. The group dynamics are great and I found myself caring for characters that sat outside of the leading couple. Obviously this was intended by the author to keep us interested in the other books. Job extremely well done.

The best thing about the book? Liam is sex. Pure sex. But with a heart of gold, and the second he starts playing daddy I dissolved and read the rest of the book as little more than a puddle on the floor. It was a tad difficult.

I'm so excited by this series. I immediately moved onto the second book and I'm yearning after the third. A little birdy tells me that the series is being made into a film. If that is true then PRAISE BE! If it's not then I will be shooting the stupid bird and feeding it to my neighbour's cat.
