What I read: Eloise and the Grump Next Door by Emma St. Clair and Jenny Proctor
Why I picked it up: I just finished Emma’s other series and this one, supposedly, follows a set of the sisters – but I can’t figure out the connection, but it doesn’t matter anyway. Or maybe that connection is another Emma series… I think it might be now that I’m typing this.
How I read it: On Kindle Unlimited.
What it’s about: Three sisters inherit their grandmother’s beach house with strict instructions to renovate and turn it into a bed and breakfast. Eloise, Lo – as she’s known now, takes the first shift in choosing everything and getting it all done under the guidance of Jake, their grandmother’s attorney turned overlord. Except this grump isn’t as much of a grump once they start kissing rather than arguing. Only issue is that she’s 11 years younger than him, and he’s hung up on the age thing.
What I liked: I loved the banter!
What I disliked: I didn’t love how he could only see her age, and almost nothing redeeming about her – there were some judgements on how she knew nothing about anything because she was just so immature, but she never presented herself as immature.
Genre: Chaste love story, small town, home renovation.
Rating & Recommendation: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and definitely, I started #2 in the series immediately following – #3 comes out this summer.

I have been loving reading more Romcoms lately and Eloise and the Grump Next Door was perfection! I am a total fan of grumpy guys and Jake had the perfect amount of grumpiness. I loved that he was from a small town that he loved as much as the town loved him. I loved that he supports his sister and nephew and has the cutest relationship with them (Liam his nephew is just the best!)
Eloise or Lo was such a fun character and I loved the ridiculous situations she found herself in and how she reacted to each. It was perfect to see her sunshine against Jake's grumpiness.
If you want a sweet romcom that will make you laugh and swoon definitely give this one a go!
❤️ Grump/Sunshine
❤️ Forced Proximity
❤️ Opposites Attract
❤️ Age Gap
Physical Intimacy: PG13 (lvl 1.5ish?) They makeout/kiss but thats about it.
Zero Swearing

Great wholesome read
It was not what I expected, but I totally fell in love with the characters and excited to read book #2 in the series. Their writing is seemless together. I completely forgot it was two writers until I got to the credits! Would totally recommend giving it a try.

Grumpy x Sunshine Trope is one of my faves
I love this book! Can’t wait for the next installments to come ♥️
Very well written and witty! It’s always good to have both pov to ensamble the story.
The literature quotes and puns were a pleasure to read
I highly recommend it if you enjoy sweet rom-coms ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A great new series and age gap romance.
As someone who was 10 years old when her husband graduated secondary school, I felt many feelings while reading this novel. It's dredged many memories!
Loved Eloise... sweet yet strong. Jake was awesome because grumpy guys are the best.
