Thank you Netgalley, Briar Bolyn, and Starwater Press for this ARC copy in exchange for an honest review!
I really enjoyed this dark romantasy Arthurian legend retelling! This is the first in a completed trilogy that is all available right now!
I clicked with Morgan Pendragon, the strong fae princess FMC instantly. I LOVE HER! She's the sister to Arthur and all is not what it seems! All the characters are very in depth, and I felt like I knew them. The MMC, Kairos Draven, is an assassin dark and mysterious, and I can't wait to learn more about him! Their banter is lovely! If you loved ACOTAR, and Fourth Wing you will enjoy this series!
At times I felt like the pacing in the novel struggled, especially regarding the Vesper and travelling part of the story. After reaching a point where we find out why some of Vesper's story happened the way it did it made sense though. Some of the ending was very confusing to me I had to reread it a few times to understand what happened and who people were. THAT CLIFFHANGER THOUGH Briar ma'am excuse me?! Overall, I couldn't put this book down. I binged it in 2 nights! Going to start the second one very soon!
It has slow burn, touch her and d1e, fae, enemies to lovers, elemental magic, fae, toxic family drama, trauma, found family, bonded mates and more!

This may be a story of the famous King Arthur, but this is definitely not the childhood tale you remember. The kingdom is at the brink of war, and the people live in peril under harsh rule. Morgan is the king’s sister but has been treated as an outcast due to her partial fae blood. After a life of hardship, she is forced by her brother to leave her friends and set off on a long and dangerous journey to retrieve a magical object. Morgan knows the king is not to be trusted, and along the way she faces dangerous enemies, uncovers layers of betrayal, and starts to learn who her real enemies are.
I really enjoyed this book, it puts an interesting spin on a magical childhood tale and brings it into a dark adult world. Morgan overcomes great suffering at the hands of those who should have protected her and her survival and then growth is satisfying. I felt a lot of emotions reading about her journey and the experiences of a kingdom living in fear. I have to say I was somewhat surprised by the directions the story took and was interested the whole way through! I was glad to see that it was a series because I was hoping it would continue!
I recently was accepted ARC Briar Boleyn's Queen of Roses (and the entire Blood of Fae series) and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. From start to finish, I was completely hooked on this captivating tale that seamlessly blended elements of romance and fantasy.
The first thing that stood out to me about Queen of Roses was the impeccable writing. Boleyn has a way with words that instantly transports you into the magical world she has created. The vivid descriptions and intricate world-building had me completely immersed in the story, making it impossible for me to put the book down.
But what truly sets this book apart is its expert use of cliffhangers. Each chapter left me on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating what would happen next. Boleyn has a knack for leaving just enough unanswered questions to keep readers engaged, without feeling frustratingly incomplete.
One of the things I loved most about this book was the romantasy aspect. Boleyn's portrayal of the romantic relationship between the two main characters. It was not a typical love story, but rather a slow burn that built up over time, making their chemistry feel all the more realistic and satisfying.
As I reached the end of Queen of Roses, I found myself wishing there was more to the story. The way Boleyn wrapped up the plot was both satisfying and bittersweet, leaving me eager for more of her enchanting writing.
In conclusion, Queen of Roses is a must-read for fans of romance and fantasy. Boleyn's beautiful writing, clever use of cliffhangers, and well-developed characters make this book an absolute joy to read. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a captivating and immersive story that will leave you wanting more. Trust me, you won't be able to put this book down.
I would like to thank Briar for allowing me to read the entire series as an ARC through netgalley. I cannot wait to read the next 3 books of this series!!

arc copy provided in exchange for an honest review. this in no way changes my rating or review.
this was a fun romantasy, for the most part. it started off so well: i was incredibly invested, the slow-burn was really slow-burning and giving me all the feels, plus the worldbuilding and arthurian retelling was so interesting! it's rare to get arthurian retellings, especially in casual romantasy novels, so i really appreciated that aspect.
but then vesper got introduced... and i hated him. just a little (a lot). i won't spoil, but the addition of his character - while possibly necessary for the plot - irritated me a little. other than him, i adored the side characters. the platonic bonds between characters was so beautiful to watch, and i also quite liked our fmc.
i'm intrigued to see how this series continues, because this book certainly had a captivating plot. i also need to see the main couple continue to grow closer!

Cruel King with a princess sent on a mission with two guards what is there not to like! This book was quite dark at the start but it drew me in. The world building was amazing and I could easily picture everything described. Loved (Hated) the characters so that was also well done. Can't wait to read more!
