Honestly loving this series more than FBAA, absolutely love Nyktos and Sera. At times it’s definitely felt repetitive especially between the two series and some of the plot lines etc but I’m committed to finishing the series so going to push through.

I am obsessed!! After catching my interest with A Shadow in the Ember, the Flesh & Fire series kicks off the second installment in such a strong way!  This book picks up right where we left off, Nyktos and Sera have just learned some very shocking and troubling information that throws a wrench into their existing plans.

The world building in this installment is nothing short of epic, readers get to venture further into the land of the Gods and Primals, witnessing it for the first time through Sera's eyes and she visits places she has only heard stories about.  I also love that we get to dive deeper into more of the interesting side characters, Sera's heart of gold and her empathy for the people around her really shines through in this book.

Nyktos and Sera share striking similarities in their characters, personalities, and life experiences, both having lived largely solitary lives. Nyktos strives to protect people from Kolis, while Sera was chosen to protect her kingdom. They are both lonely souls searching for companionship, driven by a desire to protect and help those they care about. This commonality leads to intense conversations between them, as every decision they make is guided by this deep-seated need.  They are strong and fiercely independent characters and seeing their romance bloom out of mutual respect for each other was really fun to read.

This book really picks up near the end, readers are treated to some epic adventure and battle scenes and some truly heart wrenching moments between Nyktos and Sera as their romance takes a turn.  You can truly feel their desperate emotions flying off the pages.  I am so entirely entranced with this series and I cannot wait for the next installment!!

Because the plot and dialogue has become increasingly repetitive over the last few books and I was finding the dialogue to be more exposition than anything.

How am I supposed to wait for the third book after reading this?!?!
I am so invested in this series that I desperately waited for A Light in the Flame to be released for months. And read it within 2 days. And it was so good that I wanna cry.
But now JLA has left me stuck on another cliffhanger. I love the experience but I hate waiting.

I really loved ALITF. I was not so patiently waiting for this book to come out because, damn, Nyktos and Sera are fire. I enjoyed this part of the series even more than the first book. We got to see a lot growth from the characters in this part. I think my favorite thing is that even though this is a Fantasy story the characters have such real feelings and emotions that it really makes you feel connected to them. Sera has anxiety and other mental health troubles and it makes her even more real, even though she is a badass harnessing the powers of the Primals. So I love that Sera just keeps getting more and more powerful and she never backs down from any threats. A LOT of things are going on in this book so I’m not posting any spoilers. But, there are plenty of spicy bits between Daddy Nyktos and Sera so you have that to look forward to. It will help with the other, stabby parts that happen.
