I might pick it up again in the future, I remember loving the first book. Unfortunately in between reading book 1 and picking up book 2, I started reading the “from blood and ash” series which I ended up disliking quite a bit. I think that tainted this series for me too. Also, I’m not a fan of smut, personally. This one is heavy on it and I just got bored.

“You need to be careful so you don’t end up dead. If that happens, I’m going to kill you myself.”
“Daddy Nyktos is not happy,” Ector murmured.
“Maybe I’m not a monster, but I, like you, am capable of monstrous acts. And when I really think about that, I’m not sure there’s really a difference between the two.”
“Then all of us, those good and bad, are a little monstrous,” he said.
The Good, The Bad and The Yes Please:
First off, I think the most important thing to make clear, is how much I think we all appreciate that there is in fact reference to “Daddy Nyktos” for all of our reading experience. So @jennifer l armentrout, we salute you for that.
I did find surprisingly, that book two was slightly slower in the progression than book 1 for the story but the comedy and banter between many of the characters helped to keep it moving and made any slower movement worth it. My favourite part about going into the second book in any series is we’re building on relationships and bonds and solidifying characters and A Light in the Flame was no exception. By the end of the book I felt I had a connection with even most of the side characters and was emotionally invested in absolutely everything.
I laughed, I cried, I yelled at my friends in my book club, that are reading these with me to either slow down, or for the love of everything hurry up so I’m not suffering alone and tried my best not to hurl my kindle across the room when I finished it.
I’ll admit during the middle of the book I was unsure of my rating, with a little bit slower of parts, but by the end I shouldn’t have doubted JLA, and it came in with a solid 4 stars.

I enjoyed the personal build-up of Sera and Ash(Nyktos). I wished we got a little more useful information, but the small bits we got were grand.

This is one of my favorites in the whole FBAA and FAF combined series. It's very emotional, with enough sweet bits to soften the dark, heavy parts, and the smut is really good because of that emotional aspect. I will warn readers that there is a bodily violation that isn't precisely sexual but still carries that sort of weight, and it really bothered me much more than I would have expected, given that, as I said, it's not actually sexual. Like all the books in this series, it suffers from poor copy editing and info-dumping, but not nearly as much as earlier books.
