I really enjoyed this book!

Marcus and Evelyn were both very compelling characters. They were instantly relatable in their passions and senses of duty, though both so frustrating (in a good way) with how tightly they cling to their views.

Evelyn has the weight of her (an important designation) world on her shoulders - feeling duty bound to take on the caring for the future of her family as a spinster. At the same time, it's almost immediately apparent how she feels she is better than baser society as a Lady.

In juxtaposition - Marcus comes from a trade background but serves as an MP in the house of commons. He has noble causes and a passion to try and save the world by help those less well off than he. He despises the upper echelons of society and the way that world works.

While their beliefs may sometimes make them seem opposites, Marcus and Evelyn are actually much more similar than even they want to admit. I greatly enjoyed their journey - from a rough first meeting to endless scathing banter. Their chemistry in the bedroom is off the charts - and I absolutely adored the way Marcus cared for Evelyn, never mind the way the ice around Evelyn's heart slowly melted for him.

I found the premise of this book to be very original and something that I have not personally read before. The pacing was good, the character growth exquisite, and the open door scenes out of this world (both the characters can't forget a certain one of these and nether can I, tbh).

Overall, greatly enjoyed, and will be looking to read other books by this author in the future!
