I waffled and almost DNF’d but ultimately I’m really glad I stuck with this one! The hilarious ineptitude of Finlay and her babysitter-turned-accomplice, the woes of a broke aspiring author, and not one but two cuties pining after her. I snorted with laughter numerous times.

Also, this book reaffirms my decision to NEVER have children.

CW: murder, blackmail, infidelity/cheating, rape (discussed but never shown on-page)

This book was so fun and exactly what I need from a mystery. I am a WIMP so I need something equally hysterical and mysterious, and this did it!!

What a bananas fun read. Fans of the TV show Dead to Me will likely enjoy, though this book is more lighthearted overall.

I enjoyed the ride, it was ridiculous and fun. The setup of th protagonist (struggling single mom, unhappily separated) was nice and recognizable. I was slightly suprised by
how easy Finlay got away in the end.
. As the whole book was unrealistic, I still liked it.

Findley Donovan is Killing it- 2.5⭐️ 2🌶️

Finlay Donovan is killing it . . . except, she’s really not. She’s a stressed-out single-mom of two and struggling novelist, Finlay’s life is in chaos: the new book she promised her literary agent isn’t written, her ex-husband fired the nanny without telling her, and this morning she had to send her four-year-old to school with hair duct-taped to her head after an incident with scissors.

When Finlay is overheard discussing the plot of her new suspense novel with her agent over lunch, she’s mistaken for a contract killer, and inadvertently accepts an offer to dispose of a problem husband in order to make ends meet . . . Soon, Finlay discovers that crime in real life is a lot more difficult than its fictional counterpart, as she becomes tangled in a real-life murder investigation

✨My Opinion✨
This was a me problem, not a book problem. This book triggered me a little in the first 30 pages. I almost DNF’d and only continued because it was my bookclub’s choice for the month. It definitely got better than motherhood triggering beginning… but I wasn’t amazed.

The romance was barely there, and probably would have been better without it. But this is a nice fluffy pseudo-mystery read. Not my usual genre, but I can see how others who like the genre would love it.

I loved the partnership between Findley and her nanny. It was a great friendship/partner in crime relationship.
