I have honestly never had any interest in learning about or knowing anything about the world of Fencing before this graphic novel. Having said that, I loved this anyway! I love the art style, the characters we have been introduced to so far, that there are just gay/ lgbtq+ characters and it’s like no big deal to anyone in the story! and I have definitely learned more about fencing then I ever imagined and I am actually interested. I will be reading volume two ASAP and will more then likely be reading every single volume I can get my hands on. What a pleasant surprise since going in I had no expectation to enjoy this!

Me gustó, Nicholas me agrada y quiero que le vaya bien en todo ❤️
El arte me encantó como era de esperar de Johanna The Mad. Las expresiones de la última página son lo mejor 😂

This is such a fun premise for a new series! I will be binging all volumes when my Scribd account resets!

Nicholas, our main character, is very likable. Though we get glimpses of his past that leads him to the private school on scholarship where he must make the fencing team to stay, we are left wanting to know so much more. Seiji, Nicholas's nemesis, is interesting in his own way. Though I didn't like him, (you won't either!), I did want to learn more about him. What led him to be such a shut down, over confident, jerk? And, why do I care so much?

Pacat did a great job making the characters real. I have never had any interest in fencing before, but I will definitely dive into volume 2 when it arrives at my library!

This was an absolutely pleasant surprise. I trust Jes's judgement when it comes to books, but a comic about fencing, when I know....fuck all about fencing, is concerning. They use pointy swords and bee keeper masks, that's about it.

Nicholas is a fencer with something to prove. He enters a match against one of the best fencers ever, and loses, and takes it incredibly personally. He winds up with a major vendetta against him, even going so far as to get a scholarship to a school seemingly just so he can have a rematch against the best.

Of course, that means his personal vendetta is at the same school as him. And is his roommate.

In order to keep his scholarship, he must make it onto the fencing team. There are only three spots, and, as his coach informs him, he has the worst technique of anyone ever in history. But he has skill, and he has a chance.

But he's gotta beat Mr. Perfect.

He also has to beat a total fuckboy who may be my favorite character ever, because he's such a shit.

I love these characters. I love this world. I have learned so much about fencing, like, three things at least. (1. It leaves bruises) I am already halfway through volume 2, and know I'm not going to be satisfied with the ending. I hope more volumes are coming.

I am NOT looking forward to the love story that is clearly coming, because Seiji is a total douche canoe.

Fun but a bit slow. It was really good at establishing the characters though!
