I read this book without having read book one and while there were times I felt like I was missing something, it was not a big deal and you could easily get enough background for this to be enjoyable. We start off by meeting Amity, an angel of truth who is on a sabbatical of sorts away from her angelic duties. She is being recruited back into the field to help Drew.

Drew was incidentally struck by cupid's arrow and is the victim of unrequited love. His behavior is stalker-ish and borderline scary towards his ex-girlfriend. He was in love with Becca and is having a real hard time moving forward from this. Because of the arrow misfire he needs some serious help to get over his heartbreak. The only person (well angel) for the job is Amity.

These two go on a journey together of healing and rebuilding. There are many things that keep them in the "friend zone" but their relationship develops more into something more. Amity is supposed to be showing Drew the truth and that he can live without Becca, but at the same time Drew is showing her the truth of human emotions.

This was a well written book, much more romance than paranormal. Amity originally came of as self-centered and snotty. Drew came across as a felony waiting to happen. They do grow from their original characters though and became more enjoyable as the book progressed. There were times that things moved a little slow for me and I was not a fan of either of the main characters for a while. In the end, their journey was worth it and a sweet one. This is definitely a beach read as for the most part the story was light but also flowed easily.
