Hard to read for a good half. By the time we get used to the writing style of the dialogue, the story becomes more interesting. I'd say the history of the gameshouse, and how far reaching and magical it is, is fare more compelling than the plot itself.

Overall meh. Which is a bummer. Because I like the author so I'm surprised I didn't like it. Just was too predictable for me.

I could have really loved this novella. The prose is great and the plot is fun, but I think it was just hurt by its novella length. It seemed like so much was being set up and hinted at but we never get a chance to really dig into the politics, the intricacies, or see much of the action. We're just told everything that happens.

I think I could have gotten past that part but the characters fell so short for me. I just never ended up really caring about any of them. A few had moments where I was really intrigued about ulterior motives or backstory but those moments are never followed up on.

Fantastic writing but I just never really felt that committed to it.
