A sweet rom com, an easy and enjoyable read. I'll definitely read more from this author.

Where is this woman's self respect??? Where is her spine??? Her friend sucks for supporting her delusions. She's one of the whiniest main characters I've read in a long time, no self reflection or accountability.

Quick Summary: Unlucky in love underdogs find comfort in each other.

My Final Say: This was such an interesting story. There were a number of threads to pull on. At the center of it all, there were two bruised hearts, each of whom longed for a love of their own. Both individuals had to learn how to trust themselves as well as the other person in the fake to real love relationship.

The detailed playlist and discussion questions that were provided were appreciated.

Frustrating characters who won't communicate and are too wrapped up in themselves.

I enjoyed this book even though it wasn't really the fun rom-com I was expecting. I thought there would be silly antics as Marcella and Theo fake-dated in an attempt to make their respective crushes jealous, and instead, I got a much more emotional and angsty romance. I also just personally don't enjoy it when a love triangle involves brothers.

I did like the author's writing style though, and I would read another book by her!

At one point Marcela compares her love life to a telenovela and that really encompasses this book as a whole.
There’s miscommunication abound between basically every single character, lies, and secrets. But the MCs also build such a beautiful friendship based on vulnerability and their chemistry and banter is unmatched! The characters felt like such real, flawed, and multidimensional people! They had to put in real work to get to their HEA and it made it so much sweeter once they got there.
Theo is a consent king, a giant cinnamon roll, and it’s hot as fuck how he simps for Marce.
The way Marce talks about books is so fucking relatable and meaningful. Made me emotional at a few points!!
Loved the diversity and inclusion!!! What a great debut novel!
CANNOT WAIT FOR ANGELA’S BOOK!!
