I'm surprised there are so many negative reviews. True, it isn't as good as Six of Crows, by which it is very obviously inspired, but it's still pretty good. I liked the characters and I always enjoy a good heist. Although there is a lot of planning, sometimes, events felt a bit rushed, so I hope in the sequel the plot will unfold a bit more cohesively. Still, the vibes are great (loved the few teahouse scenes) and there is some great banter - even though all the main characters are a little too easily distracted by flirting. On that note, is it just me or is Matteo giving Astarion vibes?

The more I think about this book, the less I like it.  There was so much focus in the story around obtaining and creating forgeries of the icons to gain entry to the event.  But then one person paid off a guard, one walked in through the front door as a plus one, and one literally just climbed over the wall to get in.  The heist wasn't heisting.  And then the lead vamp guy was literally adopted family and just let them go anyway, so the double cross was meaningless.
I did like the characters well enough i guess, but the plot was a whole mess.

Slow and just not interesting. I had high hopes for this since the last two I read from the author were great.
