Like a lot of second books in a trilogy, this one suffered from middle book syndrome. Coming off of the high of the first one, this one seemed like it was grasping at straws to get a plot together. And once that plot was established, any and everything happened. It was all pretty haphazard to be honest. The big twist/baddy of the book came out of left field and just seemed way too convenient...it was really only done so it could set up the drama for the third one.

I liked the role Connor got to play in this one, and seeing Ravi and Pip back in action was nice. The podcast element was a nice touch, and with the audiobook, you had the added benefit of multiple narrators. That really helped with emersion into the story, and at times it really felt like you were listening to an actual podcast.

Overall, it wasn't bad. It was just very lackluster compared to the other two, and it felt too much like it was only written to make the third happen.

I felt like Pip got way too invested in Stanley after only being around him a short amount of time. Maybe it was because she literally had to watch him die or because she felt responsible for him being found out, but it seemed like she took his fate much more personally that she probably should have. The resulting PTSD made perfect sense, but her unwavering dedication to him and her willingness to fight everyone on his behalf afterward seemed like a lot.
