Vampirella, she of the barely-there strap monokini, Betty Page babedom ... kinda kicks ass? Well yes she does!

Big thick book, blood red cover, I picked it up on a whim. Yet inside I immediately noticed some serious cred. Names like Grant Morrison, Mark Millar, Mike Carey. Wait, Warren Ellis? Alan Moore? Holy moly, that's royalty there. And that was just a start. That's when I realized the title was "Masters Series," so yes, this was not just a Cheesecake Princess of the Night.

Some of the stories were better than others. Some of the art was good, some great. And yes, there was cheesecake. She is Vampirella, after all! I appreciated that they pushed her more towards the Wonder Woman end of the spectrum and let her be fierce instead of just a joke. And I always appreciate a gothy aesthetic, which this had in spades.

One note: There needed to be more women contributors to this! Just sayin'
