4.25 stars

“Made up husband” is one of my favourite storylines, but I didn’t know until now that it’s best combined with the “husband” having amnesia and immediately being heart eyes for the “wife” when he’s told they’re married. 🤭

Now, I know this isn’t going to be for everyone. There is obviously A Big Secret that Cecilia is keeping from Edward, given the premise, but I loved this book because it gave me all the feels. I was squeeing with delight as the “my wife” (but not really his wife!) of it all was sheer perfection, being heart eyes myself as their romance was so sweet, but there was also angst that had me sobbing. I was on an emotional rollercoaster.

I did have some quibbles with the third act though, and there were a few plot choices that meant I rated this 4.25 stars when it was on track for 5. Overall, I still loved it and could see myself rereading.

Delightful, silly, wonderful, I loved it.

Enjoyed this one most so far

This is book #2 in a Bridgerton prequel series. I didn't know that when I bought it or started it. I will have to go back and get the first one.
Anyway, It was a sweet story about a woman looking for her lost, possibly injured brother in America during the Revolutionary War. If you are someone who needs the pieces of the story to fit logically, this might have some problems for you. I just read for entertainment and can accept some convenient coincidences and enjoyed this story.
