I'd have ranked this higher but I thought the misunderstandings and the lack of honest communication went on way too long. Had they just talked to each other and had she been honest with him sooner, I'd have given it higher than 4 stars. In the end, it just kind of fades into a generic Regency era romance whose details won't stay with me, and which I'll probably never read again.

Sometimes a book is a ship that passes in the night and you wave at it from a distance and think, 'that one wasn't for me'.

Enjoyable romp. Quite interesting characters in this story and a complex story line. Fun and fast read.

Started on audio, finished with the paperback. Colossal improvement on the first Rokesbys book. While I did understand why the characters had to travel and investigate for the sake of the story, I felt like too much time was spent on that part of it when all I wanted was resolution to the lost-memory storyline.

Not very many authors are capable of blending sensitive romance with courageous adventure. Julia Quinn transitions between the two with a smoothness and clarity that appeals to readers like me who are fans of both. The Girl With the Make - Believe Husband exudes classic romance while squeezing in a few modern day subjects. With a strong sense of female empowerment Cecilia sets out in search of answers and ends up facing more than she could have imagined. Edward holds the key to all she seeks, if he can forgive her in the end.

It may not be the book. I have loved all of her books until this one, and I loved the first in this series. This time I just wasn’t interested. The lie was so ridiculous after the first day, and normally I can get past a little ridiculousness in a romance. But the characters just didn’t grab me at all.

Cute couple and I liked the story...just a story of two people falling in love (nothing overly angsty)!
hopeful lighthearted medium-paced

Probably 4 or 4.5 stars for the book, but stellar narration bumps it up to 5.

Review to follow... at some point.
