Honestly one of my favorite of the Bridgerton reads! I loved Cecelia and Edward and their story full of twists and turns. Who doesn’t love a coma and a fake marriage?
agh darn it! if only healthy communication and honesty had been relevant in 1779!!!!

I have always love the movie, "While You Were Sleeping" and finding a book utilizing it's storyline has been really enjoyable. It didn't just copy the story of the movie but rather the idea of a love story developing from unselfish motives of a caring woman and a man in a coma.

What a surprise this was! With the first Rokesby book and the Smythe-Smith tetralogy before, I was pretty much prepared for a book that managed to be worse than expected, but I think this had the right combination of pacing between the plot and the romance.
The 2 main characters did not wake up one day and decided they were somehow in love; there is a backstory, albeit a bit fairytale-like but this is a period romance book, and that backstory covers enough time to allow this to flow naturally and not one thing happened suddenly and woe them, what can they do now. Not only that, but there is enough suspense since this is set in the colonies and even though we do not see the war, the consequences and troubles it brings is a heavy point in the story. The cherry on top was the the love Cecilia and her brother had for each other and it was shown in tidbits that in time just built up the affection they had for each other and it was really touching to see a relationship (even a family one) that worked so well without much force. The book had parts of their letters to each other at the top of every new chapter and while they do not amount to much at first, it just comes to show how much they mean to each other.
Cecilia is simply a very good main character, because the way she handled things seemed appropriate at the state of mind she was at any given moment. The moreal dilemma of lying to someone she cared about, but also the need of his name to search for her brother is a big one and she lived in constant turmoil about it. Edward was fine as well, but it is mostly Cecilia that shines in the book, because she experiences from the start the lies. Towards the end (though I guess, it's from the start), the story becomes predictable, but it manages to use its cliches with success at least.
This is the kind of Quinn book that reminds me why I like her works so much. I can see it can be a hit or miss and I'm glad this was a hit for me.

I have not read any of the main series Bridgerton books yet, but when the prequels were featured on sale on Amazon, I jumped in. I am so glad I did. Ms. Quinn has a way with words and humor that have held my attention, have made me laugh out loud and have made me brush tears from my eyes.
At a time when everything in the world is a serious challenge, when I’m alternating among fear and grief and loneliness, a book that is lighthearted and yet serious at the same time is just what I need. On to book three!

UUGGHHGGG. Literally if they just talked to each other we could have skipped the last 100 pages
This was actually one of my favorites of Quinn's that I've read. The premise was different and there was a bit of mystery thrown in to the plot. It was cute.

I really liked both Cecilia and Edward, and the setting of this book. Great epilogue!
