Sometimes you just need a bridgerton-universe read ya know

Tolerable I suppose, but... Cecilia was terrible. It would have been better if they had waited to consummate their fake marriage AFTER he had regained his memories. If this was gender swapped, people would be rioting. (A man pretending to be the husband of an injured, unstable woman in order to use her connections, sleeps with her, and then ditches after making sure she's not pregnant because "that's the right thing to do for her." )

The double standard pisses me off!!!

call me old fashioned but i do like it when the protagonists in a romance novel actually act like they like each other

It was a quintessential Julia Quinn. I quite enjoyed it. It was lighthearted, but still managed to have depth. I really enjoyed it.

2,5*
A protagonista Cecilia irritou-me imenso em boa parte do livro.

Halfway through the book, I was just annoyed with Cecilia. I had empathy, then gone.

DNF at 187. I can't with this the lying is too childish. Stopping now because this ridiculousness of forcing an allergic reaction to avoid going to a ball in the middle of a bloody war your about to lose because you're too chicken to own up to a dumb mistake is insane. I'm not wasting my time anymore with this heroine, much as I like Quinn generally.
