If I have to hear either one of them describe the colour of someone’s eyes again, I’m going to gouge my own.
This story was super frustrating and not enjoyable at all. Very disappointed after the first in the series was so fun, I was expecting more.

This one dragged for me, with the plot based on Celia's lies rather than the search for her brother. My least favourite Quinn so far.
Okay I think I’m getting burnt out on these. I did like this one though because I, too, would tell a lie and it would definitely accidentally mess up my entire life. 4/5 ⭐️’s

WOW!!! This book has everything: Brother’s best friend, amnesia, fake marriage (of convenience)!!
I love their love, they are obsessed with each other!! Edward is the sweetest, most earnest man in the world. Cecilia is so strong and brave and smart!! So many feels, they’re so good together.

good book. Cecelia pretends Edward’s Rokesby (her bros friend) is her husband and helps him heal after he was injured in the war. He doesn’t remember if he married or not so goes along with it. They form a good partnership and always secretly liked each other before meeting.

This is the second book in the series and I loved the characters so much.
Edward is a soldier and his best friend is Cecilia's brother. While she sends letters to her brother, slowly she and Edward become acquaintanced through them.
When disturbing news about her brother arrive and while she is facing to either marry her cousin, who she isn't fond of or become homeless she decides to make the long journey to America to learn more about her brother's condition.
When she can't find him but she finds Edward she is forced to lie that she is Edward's wife in order to stay my his side. She hopes that once he awakes he would be able to help her.
The real trouble begins when Edward awakes with no recollection of marrying her and suffering from amnesia.
It is a bit of a While you were sleeping take in a historical romance.
I liked the plot and how they get to know each other through letters. Cecila was very brave making that journey and trying her best to find her brother. Edward was unbelievable sweet and lovely, especially in the way he behaved towards Cecilia.
It was very fun to see them navigating the new reality they faced.

The 'While you were sleeping' aspect of this sold it to me but it really didn't come off well for me. I just didn't enjoy this as much as I should have. I think it's because it all took place in America to be honest. It just didn't feel very Julia Quinn like or something. And the constant questioning of the lie got a bit boring. I liked the end though!
