This would have been a five star read for me but yet again, it was way too long just like the first book in the series (even though it was 200 pages shorter 😅). It might just be me, I prefer to read about a couple getting together but once they are it loses the tension and that definitely happened in this book.

This also feels like a ridiculous complaint given all romances have a happy ending but it’s all just a little bit toooo perfect in the end!

I really enjoyed this overall, but Ryan and Indy were a little too perfect which made for a less exciting read than the first book and the epilogue was far too cheesy for me.

I’m a bit conflicted with this one- the best way to put it is that when it was good, it was really good, and when it was bad, it was pretty bad.

All in all, it was a pretty standard romance, predictable but not in a bad way. There were some really cute moments and I liked how it didn’t take 500 pages for them to realize their feelings (aka not too much of a slow burn).

The main issue was the writing felt juvenile and simplistic, especially in the beginning. The author also tried to make the characters multidimensional but it felt more like an afterthought that was stated rather than shown. There was also this weird thing where all of the « conflicts Â» were pretty much just the characters refusing to speak to each other. They weren’t ever really mad, just wouldn’t communicate to the other person because they wanted to wait? Several days? And not explain that they wanted to do that? It just seemed like trying to find conflict where there wasn’t anything.

I hadn’t read the first book in the series, and I don’t think it’s necessary to.

One of the most mediocre books I’ve ever read. Torn between a 2 and a 2.5. This books makes me think I could successfully be an author.

All of the tropes and character types used were very by the book, there was just nothing particularly likable. And holy smokes was this book way too long. A lot could’ve been cut.

At the end of the day I did read it quick enough and there were some very cute moments. It’s not that I hated it but there are an endless number of way better romance novels.

You’d probably love this if you were in high school or new to the genre (not an insult).

Very typical grump/sunshine trope, but I still liked it. He was the stoic athletic that doesn’t show emotions because he was hurt in the past. She’s social butterfly going through a break up and needing a place to stay. The end probably dragged on a bit. But worth a read.
