A quick, dark read that was obviously triggered by an event, but the context made it seem like a conceptualized book. It was short, but somewhat difficult; I liked the challenge.

Boomer flash fiction about the loss of Netflix. Can be read while you sit on the shitter hoping you're not constipated. Somehow has two sex scenes that are shorter than my first groomsman speech. $22 for a hardcover?! Inflation is a b

I kept seeing this book in one of the Featured Titles section at my local bookstore. It always intrigued me, but I never bought it because it was the same price as a normal hardcover and barely hit 100 pages. Instead, I checked it out from the library.

And boy, am I glad that I didn't buy it, because this book is hot garbage. The premise sounds cool, but it's literally just a bunch of boring people talking to each other about...stuff? I don't know? I can't even tell you a thing about this book except that the Super Bowl is in it and then there may or may not have been a plane crash?

Again, hot garbage. Don't bother. I sincerely hope the rest of this author's works are better.

I can't help myself. The terms surround me. I try to think sometimes in a prehistoric context.
Accurately captures the feeling of the being unable to imagine anything in this world without the plague of technology. This book made me feel guilty and sad.

Love a little postmodernism in the morning. I want to take the premise + people + prose and see them transferred to a longer novel. Like all DeLillo, the one thing I find lacking is more of everything!

Essentials:

"She found this satisfying. This 'came out of nowhere'. There is almost nothing left out of nowhere."

"All the people watching intently or sitting as we ware, puzzled, abandoned by science, technology, common sense."

Life can get so interesting that we forget to be afraid.

"Half sentences, bare words, repetitions. Diane wanted to think of it as a kind of plainsong, monophonic, ritualistic, but then told herself that this is pretentious nonsense."

"Was each a mystery to the others, however close their involvement, each individual so naturally encased that he or she escaped a final determination, a fixed appraisal by the others in the room?"
