I usually steer away from them because they’re poorly done and frustrating to listen to. Sound effects and all are annoying at best. This one has music intros for chapters but that’s it. The rest is just specific actors for specific parts. There was only one part has been weird where a character had to explain their movements in a way that felt forced. The rest I have been a fly on the wall, listening in.
3/4 is one story that seemed to flow together. The last 1/4 felt more like it's comic origin.
I do not remember reading any of the comics, I might have at one time but I do not remember it. It was interesting to see Gaiman's transition from Visual to Audio. I expect nothing less from an author with his track record.
Oh, there’s a bit of someone chewing for much longer than I’d have liked.

As an audio drama, incredible; lavish production, varied and good voice talents. Unfortunately the source being an iconic comic series known for its visuals it doesn't translate well. There's only so much you can do to paint a scene with sound. Scenes I also unfortunately already saw in print.

I feel really torn with this... I feel like if I'd read the comics or watched the TV show I'd have absolutely loved it! And there were definitely elements that I really enjoyed. But in audiobook format it was quite jarring and hard to follow. It definitely feels like it needs a visual element to make it fully make sense. I did however really enjoy the very raw dark elements in this and it has a way of discussing these elements in a way that has shock factor but isn't necessarily so distressing that you can't keep reading (obviously that's a very individual thing though). I think I'm going to invest some time into reading the comics or watching the show before having a listen to the next audiobook because I think it will make more sense that way.
Best audiobook I’ve listened to! Don’t even hesitate with this one, it’s absolutely worth it!

Very well done adaptation. It’s remarkable how much of the imagery of the series came back to me as I listened. Also, this series is way darker than I remembered it as being.
