I 100% expected something different and interesting and exciting like come on this is a book about witches and whatever the main guy is and you know school stuff. This was boring and so much not my fault that I don’t like it. My girly was ok she knew to protect herself and was powerful but this man right here didn’t have my appeal in any way whatsoever. He was rude and everything and I know it’s because how he is but like I don’t like him. The end was twisty and we also found out his name and identity and let me tell you I was shocked. I would not continue with the series if this dude is the and game and he most definitely will so it was nice knowing there exist a book like this.

Plot was not plotting but a fun read with big twist at the end.

SOOOOOO...I have so many mixed feelings. I loved it at first. Gray was hot, Willow is a thiccc bad ass, and the magic system is AMAZING. Towards the middle, I really didn't like Gray anymore. I get his schtick and usually I'm down for that kind of character but he gave me the ick fast. Some of the cringe stuff he said gave me Zade Meadows vibes and, while I know many of y'all like him, I can't stand that character. The twist at the end was interesting, if not a little predictable, and I think it set up the next book to be really interesting. I found myself wanting to be over at 80% but then wanting to read the next one when it was done.

My main complaint is the reason I even read it in the first place: the spice. For me, 3/5 spice, which is my preference. My issue is it seemed like it was just put in for the sake of being there. It didn't really add anything other than a chance to slap smut in the book and I honestly think it took away from it. Like I said the story was REALLY good and the magic system was probably one of my favorites ever. I found myself wishing for more of that and less seemingly pointless sex.

It was decent, I'll be checking out the next one.

I love the idea of this book, I just wish there was more world building. More development of the other characters outside of the main ones.
