I enjoyed the parts about the author's life and family most, but the historical context was also enlightening. A bit dense, but consequently full of information.

This is a heavy and important book. It was hard to see how many lies I’d been told as an American and just fully believed until October of 2023. I really liked the personal stories mixed in by the author; they did an excellent job of framing it in humanity better than if the whole book was just focused on the history.

A bit dry, but very important information. I like how the author included his own experiences and family history in the narrative.

An essential overview of a century's worth of Palestinian history. This book is educational and detailed, but not overly academic or dense.

At times, the author includes his own first hand accounts and those from family members. This adds an illuminating personal touch.

This was a very helpful and thoughtful overview of 100 years of intense history. I really appreciated the 1st person accounts and the author’s own experiences in this book, that aspect not only made the book more engaging but also made the impacts of occupation more immediate. The history minor in me loved that approach! This is a lot of history to go over in not a lot of time, so I do think in some parts it moved on too quickly, but I come away from this understanding the general arc of Palestine and how we’ve arrived at this particular moment in history. This history makes me hopeful that Palestine will be free and that colonization across the world will end.

Essential reading!!! This was really my first foray into learning about the history of Palestine, and I think the onslaught of information made it hard for me to stay engaged at times. I might revisit once I’m more familiar with the subject matter. From the river to the sea 🇵🇸
