I loved this book. I would have given it a 5, but I was screaming at the main character half the time that the answers were right in front of her. She is portrayed as smart and cunning, so I just didn't find it believable that it took her so long to connect the dots sometimes.

I enjoyed this book, despite what others said about it being slow or boring compared to the rest of the series. It was a fun beginning to what has become one of my favorite series ever.

Despite some occasionally flawed writing, I love this series and I love
aelin
I cry everytime I read the series through. 5 stars for that.

As I had come to expect based on what I'd heard from friends, this first book in ToG is not nearly as gripping as SJM's other series. The writing is not as good and the characters and their dialogue don't read quite as authentically. But I'm excited to see how the rest of the series plays out because the world building is there. Also that ending was a doozy. Definitely didn't plan on being up so late reading so much of the end in one night.
