I liked it. Although I kept imagining Dorian as Joffrey from Game of Thrones.

Sorry to all my Sarah J Maas besties but I'm not as excited about this book as I expected. Maybe it's because there is not much romance (yet) or because it's YA but the first 40% got me struggling. But after that I finished the other 60% in one day. Overall I liked it, but I hope I like the other books better.

Took me long enough to finish this review. I reread this book weeks ago and didn't have any time whatsoever to actually sit down and write a review of it. It's been incredibly frustrating, to say the least. Shame on me for leaving one of my all-time favourite series without a review for so long. Work can fckn wait its turn
It's no secret that I love this book, this entire series, with my whole cold black heart. I first read it as a teenager and I became wholly obsessed with everything SJM has created ever since. There is not a single book of hers that I did not fall in love with. This woman is pure talent. Her books have everything: excellent plot/storyline, incredible characters, mind-blowing plot twists, heartwarming romance, genius foreshadowing, and torturous, unrelenting paaaaaaiiiiiiin. Yes, all the aforementioned are in every single book, including this one. My emotions were so thoroughly manipulated I don't know what to feel anymore. Whoever said books aren't magic is a moron and should be in jail. Obviously, I highly recommend this book.
Celaena Sardothien is one of my all-time favourite female main characters. I love her so much it hurts sometimes. This is a young woman who's been through so much shit in her insanely young life, she deserves the whole fckn world. She deserves to be spoiled for the rest of her life. Sadly, that is not what happened by the end of this book. There are six more fckn books in this series. More shit awaits. She is hands down one of the best, most well-written characters I've ever come across (you'll find that SJM has a lot of those) and I've been lucky enough to find her at the very beginning of my book obsession which set a high standard of reading quality. From her backstory to her personality, to her character development...she's a 10/10. Yes, I am prepared to fight for this.
Here's something I completely forgot about the first book: Dorian Havilliard and Chaol Westfall did NOT make a good first impression on me at the beginning of the book. On the contrary, I was very very annoyed with them. I must have erased from my mind after I fell wholly and irrevocably in love with them. What can I say about Dorian that hasn't already been said? He is literally everyone's dream guy, from looks to personality. HE LOVES READING BOOKS!!! Basically...he is HOT AS FCK!! He has this compassion and sensitivity that contrasts the way he presents himself to others (other than Celaena

3,5 stars.
I KNOW everyone and their mother loves this series, and I liked the first book just fine! I will just need to keep reading and get more into it. ACOTAR also wasn't my fave book in the series, so I am excited to see where this series takes me.

first of all, this book was crack once i really got into it. the mystery aspect, the characters are extremely complex, the hints of romance here and there, the past that we do not yet know… everything was IMMACULATE!!
i CANNOT wait to read more about these characters especially celaena! i don’t regret starting with throne of glass rather than assassin’s blade!! best decision ever!!!
i’m gonna do this for every book i read in this series!
fav character: dorian
