The thing is, the writing so so good. I love the writing.
It’s the story and plotting that reeks.
I hate the miscommunication trope. It was fun enough in the store to cock-block each other and she should stick with that.
But the whole getting fake engaged, then her WEARING THE RING in private is so fucking weird no person, realistic, would ever do that. And then continuing to go along with it even though they hate each other?
No. Everytime I read the ring on her finger I got pulled out of the story bc simply - wtf. Come oooon.
Then they continue with the fake engagement?
I can’t. I cannot.
Gosh I had hoped it would just be them cock blocking each other or agreeing to pretend to date to get off people off their back, a truce or something. Sexy, enticing, fun.
That would be more realistic but this?
DNFed at 53%.

"I knew I didn’t deserve you. Not even close.” He shakes his head and swallows. “I told myself I should let you go to find someone who does, but I can’t. Not without trying to make you mine first, because you’re it for me, Shortcake.”

Shortcake is ridiculous and over the top but I like it. I wish Ben had his pov and he low key reminded me with asshole behavior and love -hate relationship that he has with Emelia of Emilia and Vicious (Vicious). Mara and Nick would be great together and I would like their book.

Everything!!

Seriously one of the best books I've read in a while. Great characters and interesting back stories with fun dude characters I hope to see in their own stories some day.

Lucy Lucy Lucy where have you been hiding this one and why did no one tell me about it before!!! I am so happy I decided to give this one a try because it was everything I needed and more!!!

The story follows Emilia who is a live in nurse for a terminal patient. When the patient passes away she leaves terms within her will that stipulate that Emilia and her grandson Ben must live with each other for a month and renovate her home if they would like to inherit the money and house she left them.

Ben is a real d!ck at first and loved him!!! the banter between the mains was elite and I couldn't stop laughing at their general shenanigans. Emilia has some of the best inner monologue I have ever read and as the movie buff I'd like to call myself I lived for all the movie references within it. Lucy you are the best at writing side characters honestly because Nick was just the best

I am so tired of "inheritance puts us together" trope, and I feel like it has been done so much better in other books I have seen it in.

This is one of those books where you read it in one sitting or in my case, all night.

It's not only fucking hilarious but the characters are so well developed that I fell in love with all of them. Even the few that had no more than three lines.

It was so good, I've spent the last few hours scanning book after book looking for something even remotely similar to this because I want to read it over and over and over again.

Seriously.

Take the chance and read it.

You won't regret it.

I could not put this one down, it was cute and funny. I found myself smiling or chuckling along with the book. Slow build - love/hate relationship. HEA and overall a sweet romance.
