finally dared to pick this one up, after the heartbreak of a thousand boy kisses i was so scared to read this

I liked how it showed the differences in grief. Good book, tears were shed

I was worried that this wasn't going to be good. While this book was for sure not needed, I think that this healed some hidden trauma that I didn't even know I had.

I loved the premise of the book and I enjoyed the love story. It was very predictable, but I actually really enjoyed how vulnerable the MMC got throughout the story. He was guarded at the beginning, but when he let his walls down it wasn't just the anger that we see in most men, it was complete devastation and I really appreciate the authentic nature that this took.

A Thousand Broken Pieces by Tillie Cole is the follow-up to her emotional novel A Thousand Boy Kisses. This time, the story centers on Savannah as she struggles to process the loss of her sister, Poppy, who passed away from cancer in the first book. In an effort to help her heal, Savannah’s parents send her on a group trip abroad. Along the way, she meets Cael Woods, a boy carrying his own grief after losing his brother.

While the book is beautifully written and its message heartfelt, it ultimately didn’t resonate with me. The prose often felt overly descriptive, slowing down the pacing and making the story feel drawn out. The romance between Savannah and Cael, while sweet, echoed too closely the love story from the first book, which made it feel less impactful. With all the hype surrounding this book, I was hoping for more.
