The first book was wonderful- heart gutting and warming all in one. This one took that to the next level. Plus it added the full circle closure. Great read but have tissues handy.

DNF at 85%
I felt like this was just trying to capitalize on the first book. If there wasn’t a connection to Poppy, then I don’t find anyone in this book captivating enough to care. This is hard to write negatively about because they are all going through very difficult times, but I just wasn’t drawn in. The most exciting scene was when Rune popped in. Doesn’t speak much for the current cast.
Almost DNF’d at 40% but kept going because of positive reviews.

Felt like the romance was a little rushed but felt the emotions of the characters as they were going through their grief.

A Thousand Broken Pieces is a beautiful tribute on how to deal with the loss of a loved one and coping with grief in many perspectives but mostly through the lens of Savannah and Cael.
Savannah is such a sweetheart who loved her older sister Poppy so fiercely that she was willing to try again to live for her. And the notebook Poppy left honestly had me tearing up many different times because it's exactly how I'd imagine she'd write it as well as knowing the comfort it would bring Savannah even though she was so weak by the end of her life. You feel proud of Savannah overcoming her grief for trying to preserve Poppy as much as possible but realising how much healing comes from letting go which is how she ended up meeting Cael— her Rune.
Cael Woods is the typical broody teenager as the perfect love interest but delving into his anger towards his brother's suicide as well as his realisation for how to fully grieve Cillian was rewarding to read. If it weren't for this step in self healing, he wouldn't have gone on the trip and met his beloved Peaches <3.
Cael and Sav's love story had me crying at times then squealing in excitement at other times because their story is so sweet and raw with the way they slowly open up to each other then realise how in love with one another they are and want to be better for each other. When Cael had to leave Japan and the only thing he could leave was the note I was so close to thinking he dies and it becomes a cycle like how Cillian left the Bruins ticket for Cael but thankfully that wasn't the case. And the ending with the proposal was exactly what the couple needed, I felt like the proposal is symbolic of Poppy and Rune in another life where they weren't separated but in this lifetime they (and Cillian) have people to celebrate the love they would have wanted in this world.
A gripping and emotional roller-coaster of a story dealing with grief but I wouldn't have it any other way for our Savannah and Cael <3
