Another wild thriller ride from Minka Kent! Narrated by Carly Robins and Jane Oppenheimer.

Wow.

This book was something else. From all the twists to the ending? I seen some of them for sure but a lot of them caught me by surprise.

Definitely a favourite read of this year and would recommend it.

It was a decent story, although it’s was lacking in suspense. The plot didn’t really pick up until 75% in, but the twist at the end was unexpected, and I really enjoyed the ending.

This was too unbelievable to be that thrilling, but there were quite a lot of twists and turns that surprised me.

10 years ago Lydia Coletto goes missing and is presumed dead when the case goes cold. One evening she shows up to her husband, Luca, and his new wife, Merritt, house after getting free. Merritt & Luca have a 1 kid and another one due in a month.

They all try to figure out what each other wants and what the next steps are. Everybody has tons of questions, but the answers are a huge twist.

Not the best book I’ve ever read. Another book by Minka Kent was actually my first DNF sometime last year, but I decided to give her another shot. It sounded kind of similar to another book that I read awhile back and liked. I liked that other book so I decided to give this one a shot

I almost DNF several times throughout the book. Finally about 50% in I read some reviews because I was really considering just stopping at that point. I saw a small spoiler that seemed interesting so I wanted to see what that was about. It was at about 60% through the book that some things started clicking in place.

Before I read the spoilers I wasn’t feeling it because the characters had completely different priorities than what would’ve made sense. Both of the FMC felt poorly written and seemed to have only a 1 track mind.

There were 2 big twists (after 60% of the book) and they were poorly written. The POV switches back and forth between the 2 FMC. It felt like the author was lying with their POVs since you’d think there’d be at least some inter monologue hints as to what they know. Even inside their own mind/POV they acted like they didn’t know anything.

It would actually be a good book without the first half of it.

Lydia has been missing for ten years. She was declared legally dead and her husband, Luca, is now married to Merritt. Now she’s back, but she doesn’t want to go to the police yet.

The story is told from Lydia and Merritt’s perspectives. It gives a good idea of what each of them are feeling but, of course, there’s things we don’t find out until later.

This book was interesting and held my attention. It seemed a bit repetitive in the beginning and then I thought it was going to come to an  end too quickly but it all worked out at an appropriate pace.

First thank you NetGalley and Thomas and mercer for sending me a digital copy of this book.

I was really curious to read it. And I didn’t really liked it. Sure the story is interesting, there are good plot twists and mysteries, some can be surprising. But I think it wasn’t for me.

Lydia is a good character , Merritt too I guess in her own way. But something was off and I didn’t grown an affection to them.

I’m sure lot of people would like this story. It just wasn’t for me
