I read this in one sitting because I was surprised by some of the twists and the story really went off the rails and I was totally there for it.

Holy cow, the big reveals just keep on commin!

Very intriguing mystery, although the twist 3/4 of the way through was kinda better than any of the twists at the end

3.5 (leaning towards 4)

The book was on track for being a five star for me up until close to the end. It was atmospheric, creepy, and had me hooked from the start. The “letter” chapters interspersed throughout added good variety and made it a quick read. I’d describe it as a domestic thriller with some very eerie gothic elements.

My rating took a hit towards the end. I feel like there were just a few too many unexplained storylines. Overall though, a great book. I’m looking forward to reading more from the author.

A solid 3 star - pretty entertaining. I liked the plot twists (though I felt like I should have seen it coming since it was similar to "A Wife Between Us", but the execution here made it more surprising). I'm not a huge fan of the dark / creepy style, but the plot was interesting enough. Most of the explanations were quite satisfying. The only thing I didn't quite understand was how the character of October fit into everything - I think she was a red herring, but I would have liked some sort of twist with that too.
Overall, I can't say I felt super compelled by the characters or the writing, but I still enjoyed it thoroughly because the plot and revealing of secrets was quite entertaining.
