Great story!! I can’t wait to see what happens next!! The romance is slightly too abrupt…but there is space for growth. I need more spice and more world!!

The giants are traveling to the trolls to trade herbs for diamonds. Estella has a plan to escape that gets botched and she and her brother are punished. They end up at the Enduar mountains where Estella meets the Butcher and hears a haunting melody.
When Teo sees Estella, he realizes she’s his mate and is determined that she will not leave his mountain with the giants.

What I enjoyed: The world building and character building is well done! The trolls maintain their bad reputation by putting on fake canines to appear more fierce than they actually are, and the giants are truly horrible, and yet manipulate the human slaves into thinking they are the good guys and the trolls are evil human eating monsters. And then there are the mysterious elves that I just want to meet as the story goes on.

I also loved all the crystals and gems and the uses they had for them! It sounded so magical and made it sound okay to live underground.

I really liked Teo. The cinnamon roll king who would do anything for his mate(who was rather ungrateful for more than half this book), and so patient too. And then his bromance with Vann was wonderful!

The biggest reason I gave this three stars is because of Estella. At the start, I thought I was going to adore this woman. The love she has for her brother was so endearing, and as someone with siblings, I really appreciated that about her! I really loved her loyalty and protectiveness for him.

That being said, she was so terrible to everyone! Not just the trolls, but to her own friends! I get that she had a traumatic past and I’m sure was done being man handled, but she was rather unbearable for me. She was too stubborn and unreasonable, and really didn’t think about how much better her life was, she only focused on herself and how she felt and that she wanted her brother back. I get wanting your brother back, but going around blaming other people for him being taken away isn’t going to solve your problems. I dunno, maybe I’m just a more logical person, and I think before I act and don’t let my emotions take over my decisions, and so maybe I just can’t relate to Estella. And then, she suddenly just realized she was being terrible and started trusting everyone. It gave me whiplash with her 180 degree change of view of the trolls. And because of that, the romance fell short for me. And it bums me out because I was really looking forward to the romance in this one, but it didn’t end up being believable for me.

The grammatical errors in here were a bit much too. Usually I let it go, but there were a lot of words used that didn’t work in the sentence or were used in a way that I don’t think they’re supposed to be

So I found this book on TikTok because the author posted about it and it intrigued me right away. So I added it to my kindle using kindle unlimited and last night I began to read it. I’d made it about 50% in and it was amazing!

Well I just finished it now and holy cow!! It is so so good and man I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. Especially the second book of course once it’s released that is. But still, I’m entirely enthralled with this story and I can’t wait to see what happens next and to follow the story along more. I give this 5 stars and 10/10 recommend that y’all read this book! Especially if you like fantasy books and of course enemies to lovers cuz this is amazing. I can’t stop saying that over and over!
