I have really enjoyed the difference this book has. Mafia and omegaverse. Her biggest issue being trying not to succumb to an alpha bark - love the guys and Haylee

I feel like there was so much happening that it got confusing.

This book started off with a lot of potential but man it needed some work. The bad writing/development really hurt the concept

Weird stylistic choices with the writing: weird that her internal monologue is often said out loud like dialogue, Too many flowery descriptors or dumb metaphors . It gives me the ick. Like stop calling blood ‘life essence’ over and over again, ‘forbidden hole’, ‘meaty hands’, ‘paradise’ , ‘bulbous lump’ etc. A lot of the commentary during the heat rubbed me the wrong way (that she feels ‘like a virgin’ she’s so tight and he used a finger or two to ‘get her ready’ yet somehow he’s 9 inches? And then takes him fine? Like clearly it wasn’t an issue). Also how many times did one of them hit  some magic button ‘deep inside that made my toes curl’ and then he ‘painted my insides with his cum like a white hot brand’ 🙄.  Just feels like the author is inexperienced writing sex scenes and it got really old really fast. No discussions of birth control or safe sex in the entire book

Missing details that don’t make sense and just give the sense that it wasn’t really thought through: Where’s all the staff in this huge house? Where was security with everything Bianca does and getting inside?
How are they allegedly head family of mafia yet don’t actually do anything mafia on-page 🙄🙄🙄 no underbosses or other families to mention? No details whatsoever.
The break in was extremely lame. Author needs to work on show don’t tell (she ‘risked her life’…. Did she though ??) Such a quick scene .
Didn’t talk to her dad about Kilroy or set up any connections across organizations.
Also from flashback: why would she take over at 21? Like train under her father sure and start taking on more but that’s so illogical when she’s a baby who barely interacts with other families.
Who the fuck goes barefoot while torturing a guy and then proceeds to drop sharp implements all over the ground? That’s just dumb
Also how did Hunter allegedly cum, stay hard, and then paint himself in blood to fuck her again?

Character development was lacking: Vinny is a clown and entirely irrational. Why would Bianca and Haylee be loose in the same house after what happened?
Hunter is a caricature….felt like a knock off other versions of the same character I’ve read elsewhere.
For haylee- Why isn’t she training at the new house and is all passive? They keep saying she’s heir and capable but she’s not very engaged with business / proactive. Haylee on east coast is so diff from the girl on west coast. Where are all her weapons and how does the Barbie keep getting the drop on her? If she’s trained like an assassin for years, how come she doesn’t fight well, doesn’t clear a room, isn’t stealthy, gets snuck up on constantly, doesn’t use her enhanced sense of smell, etc?! In years since she revealed, they never came up with a resolution for alpha commands which is hilariously overpowered in this universe?

The fucking ending:
Why would Gavin be doing business when his primary job is protecting her and the Storm family? So dumb.
Haylee YET AGAIN letting Bianca get the drop on her. Security is non existent in this house. She also immediately goes to run home even though that’s irrational and helps nobody.
She sure as hell isn’t ready to lead anything. She’s got no survival skills and no leadership skills on-page.

Also long term, given how the story is set up, I really don’t see a good resolution for long term success of both organizations given they’re on opposite coasts. (Also hilarious they’re both huge yet somehow couldn’t arrange a meeting together despite Gavin’s connection? Like how’d he end up working for Storm if not through them?)

Omegaverse + Mafia? Yes!

Kotah Jean has penned an engrossing novel with The Mafia’s Omega Princess. You get the omegaverse and mafia which is a definite win win. This is a dark romance and why choose. It draws you in and doesn’t let go. The entire book had me in a chokehold. I finished it in two sittings. But holy cliffhanger. Kotah Jean needs to give us the second installment yesterday!

This is the first omegaverse book I have read and it definitely won't be the last. This particular omegaverse story is the first in duet so ends on a cliffhanger, it is a non-shifter, mafia, why choose, dark romance that has some great characters that you will both love and hate. I would class it as a spicy slow burn but once the spice kicks in it is really hot. It has a great storyline with some brilliant twists and I am looking forward to the conclusion in book 2. Overall a great debut novel. Please check your TW though as there are a few.
