For a lot of the book I was confused as to where it was going, but it all made sense in the final pages.
Lovely, fluid writing.

I really liked this book, but I'm not sure how many teens I know would be able to get through it.
when I picked up this book, I thought "oh wow, I love a good pregnancy story. this should be great!" well I almost ran screaming for the hills when I finally gave up on it. I liked the idea the author had set, but it wasn't conveyed great enough for me. it was actually quite boring when I finally came out of my confused fog of bookland.

Beautiful prose, a lot of heartache, and the ending made me want more answers. But, just like the character Kenzie in this book learns, some questions cannot be answered for you. You need to decide what the future holds.
The book did not hook me in. The characters began to get boring and the plot wasn't really going anywhere.
I was going to rate this 1.5 stars, but I’m raising it to 2 because I actually ended up enjoying the latter half. Plus, the cover itself gives it a solid half point.
I’ve owned this for about 7-8 years and it has just sat there unread - for The Reading Rush this year, I decided to finally pick it up and I’m glad I did.
Overall, I felt like the characters were one dimensional (aside from Estela) and the writing immature. It tried very hard to be lyrical but missed the mark a bit for me. I also thought a lot of the plot itself was clunky and unnecessary.
My favorite part was the setting though. I love Spanish food and Spain is one of my favorite places I’ve ever been. I think I would have enjoyed this a lot more if I read it when I bought it back in 2012-13 vs. now when I’m in my mid-20s.
