I'm telling myself that this is a short story as I hate teasers. I actually enjoyed this quite a bit, and would probably rate it higher, but as I don't know how the actual complete story ends, I'll have to wait and see if I complete it.

Definitely an interesting idea about a young man whose job as a "debt collector" is to siphon off the remaining life force of the dying who are no longer beneficial to society and to transfer it to people with the possibility of being useful in the bettering of mankind by living longer (which we know in a corporate world probably comes down to money).

Someone slap me for downloading and reaching these teasers. I have way too many books on my bedside and in my personal library to read and enjoy.

I am LOVING this serial!! I'm listening to all of season one in audio format, which I usually find very distracting, but in this case my attention has been held! The narrator sounds a bit like Nicholas Cage, in a sleepy kind of way.

The story and writing are fabulous! I'm hooked. All in. The fact that Lirium is so unexpected; I love to be caught off guard! He starts off as cynical and crass, but I can already feel the pull to become something more.

The very concept of the serial is brilliant and I can't wait to see what this future world has to offer.

I won a copy of this book from the author, and that in no way affects my review.

So good! Unexpected! The only downside is the lead is soooo young yet had wisdom out his ass. I'm still excited to see where the rest of this goes.

Wow. This indie (perma-free, I think?) ebook reminds me of C.J. Cherryh at her best. Gritty, but with vivid (broken) characters you thoroughly care about. I guess this will be the second freebie that makes me buy book two....
