Really good fantasy novel from one of my favorite authors. First time I have read stackpole outside of the battletech universe and I really enjoyed it.

I got halfway through and gave it away when I realised that it had turned into a hard slog and I would have 350 pages of the same plus two more books to get through. Also action is his strong suit but he is not so good at the other bits.
