Loved this when I read it, a very intricate tale of relations between generations, nationalities, religions and the tragedy that can ensue when people don't understand each other.

It's a rare story where you sympathize with all of the characters, even as they're destroying each other.

*Standard complaint mixed with hoping for a half star system* - 3.5 stars. My wife recommended this book and I hesitantly picked it up - our book interests don't always align ya know. I ended up quite happy with my experience, although the last third of the book was by far the most gripping. I imagine that's standard for thrillers and I simply haven't read enough of them.

The ending makes the book more than worth it.

one of my all-time favorite books

This book was surprisingly good. I felt compelled to learn more about each tragic character, and found myself emotionally attached to each one. I haven't read it for many years now, but it is one that I would be happy to go back to. I recommend this highly.

This book is pretty much just about two people who are too proud to function. Proud in different ways, most certainly, but proud nonetheless. I thought it was really well written with interesting characters, but it was so tragic and depressing that I found myself very disappointed with it.

Well written and I am glad I read this dark story, but wouldn't want to read it again because it's just so tragic.

Wow. Was NOT expecting the ending. Haunting and tragic for sure!
