This book answers the question, what if Tamsyn Muir wrote a gothic horror novel set in a post-apocalyptic society as told by a hivemind symbiote? It's gross, it's cryptic, it's heartbreaking. I fucking loved it.

I’ve never read anything like Leech before, and I hope I never do again.
the rape written in second person and the multinational of a literal newborn were just too much for me

This book was worth reading- it does very interesting things with the self and the first-person narrative and brings up some great points for contemplation- but it is not an easy book to read. Please mind the content warnings and brace yourself to be disturbed by at least one thing in this book.

Skin-crawingly disturbing and one of the most brilliant novels I've read. Leech begins as gothic science fiction with wildly creative atmosphere and worldbuilding, then seemlessly twists into a horror story about lack of bodily autonomy. It's a scream, a vengeance, and a triumph.

What an immersive book. I found the ending a bit rushed, but the rest was fantastic. Told from a unique POV, with a fascinating plot, and a post-apocalyptic world that feels more mysterious because we only ever get hints of the weird and vast ecosystem that is behind it all.

Horror isn’t usually my thing, but gotta support my queer sci-fi-adjacent authors! In its best moments it reminded me of Ancillary Justice. I liked the futuristic French language elements, but couldn’t quite seem to get my head around a world with a hive-mind doctor complex and mechanical hearts but otherwise only very outdated technology. I found the end a bit drawn out too long and anticlimactic.
