okay that's it for me with this series. couldn't care less about the characters nor the story. the conflict between all these kingdoms makes absolutely no sense, like build your own bridge?? use your ships to commerce? i don't get the fucking plot at all.

A great, fast paced, high stakes, angsty romance with tons of tension throughout the entirety of the book, ensuring your curiosity.

This review is short so I don’t echo a large portion of my previous review.
The first half introduced us to some interesting characters. A lot of strong, badass women which I’ll always love. Lara especially, she really overcomes everything no matter the circumstances.
Again, I don’t feel the chemistry with the main couple as much as I’d liked to - but I digress. I still like them both, especially with what they’ve endured.
Politics had a huge focus on trade which was different- a little refreshing actually. In saying this, the story wasn’t all that compelling to me, it was alright - can’t say if I’ll continue the series.
The conclusion felt rushed. I think we could’ve done with a couple more chapters wrapping it up.

Overall a decent read, with some great characters.

Wow. I feel. Wow. Do yourself a favour and just read this. Just do it.
Also I am pretty sure I’ll be holding my breath until the next book comes out… so if a release date could be announced that would be fabulous. Because ah.

This was emotional rollercoaster. Lara’s groveling had me in tears. And with Aren’s internal struggles to choose her or his country, ughhhh. There was some parts i felt dragged a bit and I just wanted to get the main conflict but I’m just an impatient person. The side line tension between Keris and Zarrah?? I thought Lara and Aren were enemies but those 2, heirs to rival kingdoms, they are the definition of enemies to lovers. I honestly just want to read the next one to get some glimpses of Lara and Aren to feed my heart

I love a good enemies to lovers that sticks as enemies longer than just the first chapter. Sometimes the series is too world-buildy and it drags, but the fight scenes are written very, very nicely.
