Who doesn't love a book about a huge dog and his life after being adopted? A fast read that keeps you turning pages, George just gets into your heart and stays there. I often found myself laughing and smiling at the antics and adventures George and Colin got up to. Ultimately, it was their relationship and the fact that each saved the other that made this book such a joy to read. Of course it was written a few years ago and updated in 2016 but I had to google and see if George was still alive but sadly he isn't. He lived such a wonderful life with Colin and that made my heart sing.

Great story about life, loss, love, fun, and of course, a doggy companion!

This is the story of a man healing from a painful divorce by adopting an emotionally damaged rescue Newfoundland dog. While it is a cute, heartwarming story, it isn’t a great read.

3 stars for being about a dog. 4 stars because the dog was a rescue (Landseer Newfoundland at that).
A fun, uplifting and wonderful read.

-the dog doesn't die in the end! an easy enjoyable read. and lovely pictures too.

"a free day is when you spend a whole day doing things you love to do. and when you do those things with the people you love who love you, you don't grow old that day. its a free day."

"i'd learned as a child that any kind of force, even verbal, can leave scars, not always the kind you can see."

"he had only been a part of my life for a few hours, yet everything felt different. even when he wasn't in my line of sight, the mood in the house was different. it was... no longer empty. it was occupied. it was full. full of life."

"occasionally he would venture under the dining table and get his body and legs caught in the jungle of chair legs and rungs. he would then issue one of his rare barks. if i didn't come right away, he would start walking out on his own, dragging the chairs and table with him."

Felt super sappy and corny to start which I don't love but then the dog showed up and I was happy happy happy. But I could read about the love between dogs and their people forever.
