Deciding to branch out beyond Loretta Chase and Julia Quinn, I consulted the Romance Writers of America web site and collected the names of the winners of their annual RITA awards in the Historical Romance category. Sophia Nash was one of them, and so I picked up her latest. Perhaps because it is the third in a series, it certainly didn't stand alone. The narrative depends on your having knowledge of the main character, and secondary characters, from earlier books. And the impediment that kept the hero and heroine apart seemed strikingly unconvincing. Before writing Nash off completely, though, I'll give the first book in the WIDOW'S CLUB series a try...

*SBTB Quarterly Challenge- September 3. Harvest Month: Read a book with a farmer or gardener character*
I really liked the start with the forced proximity and the rescue. When they were together they had great chemistry. But then her "friends" find them and muck everything up. The scene changes to London and standard Regency setting number one, plus a lost peer and a mystery element that was undercooked.
The writing was ok, but none of the secondary characters inspired me to go back and find their stories or continue the series.
